Scope and Content
The collection relates to the St Andrews branch of the firm and includes material relating to the running of the legal business but also papers of clients including Madras College and Madras Trustees, the Royal and Ancient Golf Club as well as the estates of deceased persons.
Administrative / Biographical History
The roots of the firm are to be found in North East Fife. Pagan Osborne was founded in Cupar over 200 years ago, and C.S. & C.L.P. Grace in St. Andrews over 250 years ago. The Firm has more recently been known as Pagan Osborne Grace and Pagan Osborne Grace & Calders. The firm became known as Pagan Osborne on 1st February 1994, and today has 10 partners, three associates, and a total of around 130 staff, operating from five offices in Cupar, Anstruther, St. Andrews, Dunfermline and Edinburgh. The Firm provides a range of legal services and business is concentrated in Scotland, with a number of clients further afield throughout the United Kingdom and overseas. Pagan Osborne markets itself as a modern and progressive law firm at the forefront of the evolution of the provision of legal services. After a period of change and new management which included the removal from the old offices in St Andrews, the firm was named as Scottish law Firm of the Year in 2002.

Acquisition Information
The papers were given to the library of the University of St Andrews in two batches, the first in 1981, and the second on the occasion of the St Andrews branch of the firm's removal to new premises in 1999.
