Scope and Content
GB 235/ASH/1/1-16: 1 box of 16 mounted photographs showing the felling of the Ash tree in 1992; and
GB 235 ASH/2: part of one of the tree limbs sliced into sections by Tim Stead to show the damage done internally by fungus; tree limb sections can be arranged to form an artistic sculpture.Access Information

Custodial History
The photographs relate to the work of the RBGE Arboriculture Dept in that they show the 'Botanic Ash' (Fraxinus excelsior) being felled in 1992. They were stored in a shed and transferred to the Archives in 2018.
The limb piece was one of the exhibits created by Tim Stead and displayed in the Caledonian Hall in 1993. It was given to Henry Noltie and transferred to the Archives in 2016.Related Material
