Scope and Content
Research material of Jo Currie, formerly a librarian and archivist in the Special Collections department of Edinburgh University Library. Much of this material was collected by Jo Currie for her book "Mull, the Island and its People". (Library 3.F-33) Primary sources include copies of material from Gloucestershire Record Office and from the National Archive of Scotland. Secondary sources include extracts and photocopies from official reports on education, emigration, poverty and church matters. Also includes travellers' accounts and some material on the cultural Gaelic background. Jo Currie's other works include "Mull Family Names for Ancestor Hunters" (Library 2.B-1 and "Hector Maclean" 1751-1812, the letters and diary of an army officer who settled in Canada.
