Scope and Content
Includes material from six organisations:
- The bulk relates to the Human Genome Organisation, HUGO, of which Ferguson-Smith was a founding and Executive Council member. Most of the material relates to the European Commission (EC) support for Single Chromosome Workshops (SCWs), including the 1991 Working Party (which included Ferguson-Smith) of the Advisory Committee for the Human Genome Analysis programme that recommended the EC should fund SCWs under HUGO guidelines, and subsequent EC contracts to fund SCWs, March 1992-October 1999;
- There is also significant material relating to the foundation of the International Society for Prenatal Diagnosis in 1996. Ferguson-Smith was a founder member, serving on the Board, and as President ,1998-2002.
