The collection consists of historical notes relating to South Western Brewery Co Ltd. Includes:

Administrative / Biographical History
The South Western Brewery Co Ltd was established in 1898 to acquire the business of William T Soloman , which included the Newton Stewart Brewery (said to have been established in 1794), twelve public houses and the leases to three others, maltings and an aerated water factory. The firm and 6 tied houses were acquired in 1925 by Archibald Campbell, Hope & King Ltd and the brewery was closed. The company was acquired by Whitbread & Co Ltd , London, in 1967 .
