Scope and Content
The book has been published in order to make Marjory Kennedy Fraser's partitions accessible, and to explain the meaning of the lyrics.There is dozens of songs in the book. Among them are the most famous songs composed by Marjory Kennedy-Fraser during her life. Most of them with lyrics in Scottish. Some of them are related to Scottish mythology. There is a paragraph of pencil notes by Marjory on the very last page of the book, regarding some details of Scottish mythology. The book contains a lot of pencil and black and red inks notes from Marjory. She made some corrections of the lyrics and the partitions. Nowadays, the accuracy of Marjory Kennedy-Fraser's knowledge of Scottish gaelic is highly debated. The book has a preface adressed to the hebridean women who has invented these songs. With the title "Songs of the Hebrides" in gilded letters.
