Scope and Content
Material pertaining to the running of Aros Hall. Aros Hall occupies the site on which the Comptroller and Surveyor's lodgings were originally built in 1790 at the founding of Tobermory. The present hall was built in the first instance by Alexander Allan as a Temperance Hall in 1882 and then rebuilt in 1890 following a fire. In 1974 it was renovated. An account of the hall is given in "A Walk Round Tobermory" (1988) by Olive Brown and Jean Whittaker, page 38
