Autograph letter signed, Dante Gabriel Rossetti (1828-1882) to Ernest Gambart (1814-1902), art dealer.
Informing [Jean Joseph Ernest Theodore] Gambart that he will be sending three drawings on Monday and looks to receive a cheque for 150 guineas. 'Mr Mitchell of Bradford was here this morning and commissioned me for an oil picture'. The Roman de la Rose and Ophelia will be coming to Gambart. Rossetti does not wish to be thought of as a water colourist and declined to join the Old Water Colour Society when [John] Ruskin offered his influence. Comments on his style and on an intention to organise an exhibition of all his paintings. Signed D.G. Rossetti. Headed notepaper, 16 Cheyne Walk, Chelsea, 28 April 1864.
