Scope and Content
Black and white negatives of photographs taken by George Allan, and a small number of colour transparencies. Images are predominantly of sites and landscapes around Scotland, with a focus on Lanarkshire. Thematic interests include the natural and built landscapes, with many images of bridges and pylons, and a small number showing industrial scenes around Glasgow. One series includes Switzerland and Italy. Some photographs are marked for exhibition. There are also photographs relating to celebrations upon the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II (1953) and the Empire Exhibition in Glasgow (1938).
