Receipt of John Pickering, armourer.
Acknowledging receipt of his quarterly pension from Adam Newton, receiver general of [Charles] Prince of Wales.
Administrative / Biographical History
Sir Adam Newton (d.1630), royal administrator, was tutor and then secretary to Prince Henry, eldest son of James VI of Scotland, from 1599 until Henry's death in 1612, then became receiver-general for the household of Prince Charles. On the accession of Charles I, Newton became secretary to the council and then secretary for the marches of Wales. He was made a baronet in 1620.
