  M. Nierenstein was appointed, at the instigation of Ross, to conduct malaria research at the Fourth London General Hospital from 1917 until the end of hostilities. His most important work was on the excretion of quinine in the urine culminating in the production of a lengthy report in 1918.

  File 13/1 includes correspondence with and about Nierenstein and his appointment; File 13/2 correspondence with and preliminary reports by Nierenstein on his research; 13/3 correspondence about Nierenstein’s report and two copies of his final report entitled ‘Report on the Excretion of Quinine in the Urine’ and 15/4 correspondence with and about Nierenstein during the years immediately succeeding the war.
