• Scope and Content

  The Sederunt books are the minute books and core records of the Society of Writers to HM Signet. They consist of 18 volumes of unbroken chronological narrative from the opening of the first volume in 1594 until the switch to electronic record in 2003. Volumes 1-7 possess bound indices. Volumes 8 to 16 have unbound indices. Volume 1 (1594-1717) also exists in the form of a transcribed copy of five volumes plus a further bound index volume.

• Access Information

  In most cases, those consulting Volume 1 (1594-1717) will be provided with the relevant transcribed volumes. Access to volumes covering the past calendar century may be restricted and will be provided at the discretion of the WS Society's officers and staff.
