Scope and Content
Seal fragment. Pendant on tags.
The seal should have been the representation of the King enthroned, wearing an open crown, and holding a sceptre with his right hand and his left hand is on his breast. His feet rest upon two small wyverns, and to the left of his head is the capital letter D. The whole stands upon a bracket which extends into the border. The legend is between beaded borders: DAVID DEI GRACIA REX SCOTTORUM
The document is written on parchment in a small, neat court hand with elongated capital letters. The tironian 'et' looks like a t with a flourished head. Cursiveness is sometimes present.
