Scope and Content
The seal, which had been applied en placard, has been lost. However, it is very likely that it would have been the same as the one on BL 487: a shield bearing the royal arms of Scotland, ensigned of a closed crown ornamented with five fleur-de-lys.
The document is written on paper in a secretary hand, without any ornamentation. It bears the signature of Marie de Guise, regent, for her daughter Mary I (Queen of Scots).
