Scope and Content
Seal fragment. Integral seal tag.
The seal should have been the representation of the King enthroned, wearing an open crown, and holding a sceptre with his right hand and his left hand is on his breast. His feet rest upon two small wyverns, and to the left of his head is the capital letter D. The whole stands upon a bracket which extends into the border. The legend is between beaded borders: DAVID DEI GRACIA REX SCOTTORUM.
The document has the same handwriting as in BL 10. There are the same elongated capital letters, long r's that fall apart into two strokes, and tironian 'et' which look like a t with a flourished head. The letter e and the very cursive final round s are also very recognizable.
