Scope and Content
The seal has been lost.
The document is written on parchment in a secretary hand with an italic influence noticeable in the shape of some letters. The first letter is very slightly ornamented. It bears the signatures of the Viscount of Belhaven himself, and of four witnesses: Henry Alexander, Thomas Hamilton, David Wood, and W. Douglas.

Blackhouse charters catalogue description: 'Charter granted acordingly by the said Viscount of the said yearly annual rent of 4 Chalders bears and 8 bolls meall yearly out of the said Lands of Gorbals and Bridgend to be holden blench of himself containing a precept of Seasine and is dated 22 Septe. 1636'.
