Charter by John Commendator of Coldingham, superior of the lands of Darnley, which says that since the land of Mathew Earl of Lennox had fallen to the Queen by forfeiture and had been gifted by her to the said John Commandator, he restores and dispones to the Black Friars of Glasgow the pension granted to them by John Stewart lord Darnley of two bolls of malt out of the mill of Darnley and two bolls of oatmeal and two bolls of barley out of the mains of Crockstoun in all time coming. Contains a precept of sasine.

Scope and Content
Seal of John Stewart, commendator of Coldingham priory. Pendant on a tag.
The seal represents a shield bearing arms: a lion rampant debruised of a ribbon within a double tressure flory counter-flory. Above and to the sides of the shield is foliated ornament. The legend is between raised borders: S'IOHANNIS COMENDATAARII DE COLDINGHAM.
The document is written on parchment in a hand mixing secretary and traditional elements. The first letter is slightly ornamented. It bears the signature of John, Commendator of Coldingham, Lord Darnley.
