Scope and Content
Seal in good condition of Walter Stewart, Lord of Blantyre and commendator of the priory of canons regular of St Augustine. Pendant on a tag.
The seal represents a shield bearing arms: a fess chequy debruised of a bend engrailed and in chief a rose. In the crest is a lion's head erased upon an helmet with mantling and torse. The motto is on an escroll passing behind the torse and reads 'EXULTABO IN DEO IESV MEO'. The legend is between carved broders: S'VALTERI COMMENDATARII DE BLANTIR.
The document is written on parchment in a secretary hand, no ornamentation. It bears the signature of Walter Lord Blantyre.

Blackhouse charters catalogue description: 'Aneoyr New few Charter of the said Lands granted by the said Walter Lord Blantyre fewar of the barrony of Glasgow in favours of Robt Reid sone and air to the said David Reid and oye to the said Matthew Reid dated 24 Sept 1591'.
