Scope and Content
Two seals, of which one is unidentifiable. The other one is that of James Law, Archbishop of Glasgow (a different version from BL 322, BL 388 and BL 489). Pendant on tags.
This seal of John Law represents a large ornamental shield bearing arms: LAW, surmounted by much foliated ornament. The legend is between raised borders: S'IACOBI ARCHIEPISCOPI GLASGVEN.
The document is written on parchment in a neat secretary hand. No ornamentation. It bears the signatures of James Archbishop of Glasgow, T. Hay Archdeacon of Glasgow, G. Forbes Chancellor, M. Anderson treasurer, Mr James Gillespie Killearn, Mr R. Watson Cardross, Mr H. Cunningham Cummock, M. Cleland Durisdeer, J. Hay Renfrew, M. Brisname Erskine, Mr John McMillane Sanquhar, W. Wheitfurd Moffett, R. Bell Eglisham, Mr C. Hoge Stobo, A. Annand Ayr, M. Reid Ashkirk, J. Maitland Edeltson, Mr Wiliam Nesbit Torbolston, Mr Archibald McLachlan parson of Luss, and the two witnesses John Knox and James Law.
