Administrative / Biographical History
The Sheriff of Orkney and Shetland accepted commission from the Lords of Council and Session for examination of local witnesses in the conjoined actions of advocations of brieves before them between Robina Sinclair, Kirkwall, and Thomas Traill of Holland and others, against Hudson Blackburn Blackett, mariner, Newcastle, and Mrs. Jean Traill or Forster, Low Felling, Durham. At issue was whether or not David Traill had been born a natural son of George Traill, laird of Skaill, Westray.
