[Photocopy] Letter from Dr John Rae, Stromness, to Mr Barron. Barron appears to have been an Admiralty official. Reference to reward and whether or not he is to receive it; his intention of going to the Crimea in February - "if I can be of any use there - I should like to see for myself what roughing it as a soldier resembles" ; compares current weather in Orkney with an autumn in Hudson's Bay ; reference to his disagreement with Dickens published in recent editions of Household Words regarding some of the information brought back by him about the fate of Franklin."
