Minute book of the Section from 27th October 1871 to 5th March 1914 with newspaper cuttings pasted in on: pollution of streams; liquor licensing laws in Sweden; fresh meat from Canada; death rate; vital statistics of Glasgow; the Registrar General's quarterly report; Society meetings; drainage; sewage; comparison of Dean of Guild Court and the Metropolitan Board of Works; farming by irrigation; public houses and the death rate; free libraries; currency and banking; sanitary science; road reform and abolition of tolls; heating and ventilation in houses; weights and measures; decimal coinage; Improvement Trust; the purification of the Clyde; crime and social progress; race distribution in Scotland; milk and tuberculosis; epidemic at Crosshill; and state insurance. Constitution and rules of the Section at the rear. James B Russell and A K Chalmers were both Presidents of the Section but latterly Alexander MacGregor was the secretary. The loose papers found in the volume all relate to his office so the volume has been included with his papers.
