Scope and Content
These slides have captions in a number of different formats so may not have been made at the same time. They are of: Set 1 1904 - Belmont Street; St John's United Freed Church, George Street, west side; wall at Western Infirmary; prison wall, High Street; eugenics class room buildings east - university. Set 2 1904: stone decay, cornice City Chambers; stone decay city Chambers capitals and dentils; stone decay, Sanitary Chambers. Set 3 1904 - stone decay, capital, City Chambers; stone decay Scott Monument. Set 4 - cell samples taken from various buildings, 1926-1927: St German's eruption under surface; Woodside under west stairs scaling plaster; Sanitary Chambers lime gelatine; Killearn; Woodside outside - 19 days; weeping fungus; Woodside mortar between ashlar blocks; Sanitary Chambers balcony - lime under overhang and bracket; Sanitary Chambers balcony - black surface bracket; Carlisle Cathedral sooty; Carlisle freshly exposed decaying surface. Set 6 from a box labelled 'Glasgow Public Health Laboratory Dry Rot': section of dry rot fungus (x250); and spores of dry rot fungus (x250). Five single images: Woodside chancel east; Burnbank; and three uncaptioned including one of Hillhead Congregational Church.
