Scope and Content
Presented to the Health Committee. Includes table of cases of fever for each month 1870-1871; percentage of deaths from smallpox in eight principal towns 1871; tables of death rates per 1000 for different districts and diseases and for all ages and children under five. The Sanitary Inspector's report is divided into nuisance inspection; lodging house inspection; epidemic inspection; visits by health visitors; food adulteration; workshops inspection; bakehouses inspection; and administration of hospital applications, interments etc. At the rear are 13 tables of statistics for the medical officer of health including: return of deaths from all causes; returns of certain specified diseases at four periods of life by registration district; number of deaths from fever and smallpox; number of deaths from consumption; number of deaths from scarlet fever, measles and whooping cough; number of deaths from zymotic diseases; number of deaths from nervous diseases; table showing compostion of every 1000 deaths; table comparing number of deaths from certain disease to total deaths; and localities specially infected by fever. There are also 8 tables for the Sanitary Inspector giving statistics for each sphere of operation. Insert at the rear of handwritten notes on the division into districts in different reports.
