Numeric Classification Files of the Glasgow Public Health Department

Scope and Content
This file series was primarily used to keep statistical information particularly relating to the annual reports. However, the numeric system had presumably been in use for some time as the first three files are from the same numbering sequence but are earlier and on other subjects.
The statistical files appear to have been compiled by Miss Knox, the Health Department Librarian. The folders were printed Corporation of Glasgow Public Health Department, Health Department or Health and Welfare Department depending on age, although old stock may have been used after a name change. Also included are two notebooks of statistics also probably compiled by Miss Knox.
A number of other files were in the same folder format but have been catalogued in D-HE/1/10 Administrative Files as they do not have numbers or are very miscellaneous. One file is closed due to medical confidentiality as is indicated in the entry. Original file covers were retained only where they gave additional information.
