Administrative / Biographical History
William Rodger was born in Kirkintilloch, Dunbartonshire in 1930. A painter, designer, muralist, printmaker and designer, he attended the Glasgow School of Art from 1948 - 52, where he specialised in graphic design. He taught at Lenzie Academy, then becoming department head at Clydebank High School. He resigned from teaching in 1987 to work as a full-time artist: amongst other work, he produced a set of Scottish historical playing cars, a memorial stained glass window at Kippen Parish Church and a number of Historic Monuments and Buildings commissions consisting of murals, lino-cuts and line drawings. He also illustrated books, such as Monica Clough's 'The Field of Thistles' (1986). Strathclyde University mounted a retrospective in 1986.
