Reprinted from the St James's Magazine, and United Empire Review for November, 1875. Contains an article on the Earldom of Mar and the 1875 ruling by the House of Lords Committee on Privileges, which decided that the Earldom of Mar belonged to Walter Henry Erskine, Earl of Kellie and not to John Francis Goodeve-Erskine, who both claimed to be the rightful heirs to the earldom.
