• Scope and Content

  Includes papers relating to legal case fought between successive feudal superiors (George Keith Elphinstone, Lord Keith (d. 1823) and his successor Sir Alexander Keith) and the Harbour Trustees over their respective rights, in particular relating to shore dues and the quarrying of stones. Further related papers in the AS/Kstn/11 series.

• Arrangement

  At cataloguing, as with many Stonehaven Town Council unlisted records, stored in a series of banker's boxes with no indication of original order at Stonehaven. They have been catalogued chronologically by date. Other loose material stored within the boxes has been added to the relevant series .

  The original order within the bundle appears to have been lost in some instances.
