Scope and Content
Staff pocket diary issued to all members of University of Strathclyde staff. It contains an alphabetical list of staff and gives the names of members of Court and Senate and their committees. The University calendar of dates is incorporated in the diary section.
Administrative / Biographical History
The Registrar was appointed by the Court. He was responsible, under the direction of the Principal, for the administration of the University. He was also responsible for providing secretarial services for the Convocation, the Court, the Senate and the Academic Congress. In 1973, the registrar assumed responsibility for academic development planning, staff establishment and all student administration including admissions, registration, examinations, records and statistics, all of which had formerly been the responsibility of the academic registrar.
In 1990, following the retirement of the Registrar, the University's administrative structure was reviewed and the office of Registrar was replaced by the office of Secretary.The office of Secretary was established in 1990 following a review of the administrative structure of the University. The office replaced the office of Registrar.
The Secretary was responsible for providing secretarial services for the Convocation, the Court, the Senate and the Academic Congress, and, under the direction of the Principal, for the administration of the University. He was also responsible to the Court for the finances of the University and for all University buildings and properties. He was also responsible for student administration.
The Secretary was appointed by the Court.
In 2010, the office of Secretary was replaced by the office of Chief Operating Officer.Access Information
