  Correspondence chiefly concerns the various research grants awarded to Beale by the Science Research Council. Also contains copies of completed grant applications and annual research reports.

• Administrative / Biographical History

  Beale was awarded a three-year grant by the Science Research Council in 1966 towards the cost of an investigation into Protozoan Genetics. He received further grants in 1972, for a research project on the Developmental Biology ofParamecium, and in 1975, for a project on Mitochondrial Biogenesis in Paramecium.
