Autograph address signed, Sir James Matthew Barrie, to the Session and Congregation of the Free Church of Bower, Caithness.
On the occasion of the funeral of Rev James Winter, giving a very personal account of the grief and sense of loss felt by his sister Margaret Barrie and himself, together with arrangements for an annual gift of 15 to the poor of the parish. Sir James Matthew Barrie (1860-1937), playwright and novelist, best known for his children's story, Peter Pan.
James Winter had been Free Church minister at Bower in Caithness for only 6 months when he was thrown from his horse and killed, just before he had been due to marry Barrie's sister Margaret. She eventually married his brother William.
