Administrative / Biographical History
The Canterbury Mental Health Council was incorporated in May 1960 primarily to educate the community in matters relating to mental health and illness. The Council was made up of representatives of the Churches, University, the professions, the Departments of Health and Education, and civic and welfare organisations. It is affiliated to the World Federation for Mental Health. The Council organised the conference as part of World Mental Health Year. Rodger attended this conference and often made reference to it in lectures and addresses afterwards.
Rodger spoke on Middle childhood and puberty, and Emotional problems of the physically handicapped,Counselling techniques,Trends in mental health servicesFaith and mental health, and was a panel member for a number of other disucssions during the conference.
