Voucher collection
- Reference:GB 1716 RSA1/9/11
Scope and Content
The Voucher Collection consists of original receipted invoices for a range of aspects of the Academy’s Business including expenditure on advertising; stationery; furnishings; property; exhibition installation, transport and insurance of loans; staff wages, and pensions. This record set is very strong throughout the 19th Century. The vouchers are arranged by year in bundles with some sub-grouping (eg Newspaper advertising). From the 20th century, and certainly after the move in 1911 from the joint RSA-NGS building to the former Royal Institution Building the voucher collection become far less comprehensive and the papers are mixed with other files, eg Exhibition expenditure. Some of the earlier vouchers have been listed as party of a volunteer project.
