General assembly of academicians
- Reference:GB 1716 RSA1/10/5
Administrative / Biographical History
Established at the Academy’s outset as the senior decision making body within the Academy, and therefore restricted to those of Academician rank only. Following the 1891 Supplementary Charter, a second meeting group was established; The General Assembly, which included members of both Associate, and Academician rank. The billet calling for the first meeting of the General Assembly on 11 Nov 1891 and the Minute of that Assembly of Academicians and all subsequent such meetings through to and including 4 Nov 1892 are to be found towards the end of the General Meetings [of Academicians] Minute Book 1874-92. Until the abolition of Associate rank (ARSA) in 2005 both Associates and Academician ranks came together at Assemblies. These were different from the General Assembly of Academicians, which, as its name implies, was composed exclusively of the senior, Academician, rank. There is some indicing of these records. Restrictions may apply.
