Administrative / Biographical History
In 1986 Pontecorvo's Glasgow friend and colleague, Sir Michael George Parke Stoker, became Director of the Imperial Cancer Research Fund and he offered Pontecorvo a job there. At this stage Pontecorvo seemed to be getting frustrated with the burden of administrative duties at Glasgow and wanted to spend more time on his research. He left the University of Glasgow on 30 September 1968 and moved his family to London. He worked at the Imperial Cancer Research Fun until 1975 and, after retirement, he became an Honorary Consultant Geneticist there.
