  He discusses the possibility of getting a Rockefeller Foundation grant for an international working conference to be held at Glasgow, as well as news that the National Research Development Corporation would like to go ahead with the development of his patent (relating to research conducted by him and Dr Jospeh Alan Roper). At the end of the letter he explains that "these matters clearly imply long-term committment" to the University but that this could change depending on the outcome of his "personal position". Again Pontecorvo was hinting at the possibility of a new Chair of Genetics being established at the University for him.
