Letter to Pontecorvo from Professor Cyril Dean Darlington thanking him for his letter of congratulations

Scope and Content
It is unclear why Pontecorvo congratulated Darlington but 1953 was the year he stood down as Director of the John Innes Horticultural Institution. In his letter Darlington also makes a comment about the importance of the study of genetics, "You need not fear a reaction to the appointment of geneticists. Genetics makes too much sense to be dispensed with, and they know it".
