  Leslie Clarence Dunn was a geneticist who's career spanned 60 years. His elegant analysis of basic genetics led to his recognition as one of the world's most outstanding geneticists. His 1958 work Heredity and Evolution in World Population, in which he presented his case against proponents of racial differences, became an indespensible source of scientific data on race.

  He was involved in the establishment of the New York Blood Center and the staff there set up an annual lecture series to honour him after his death in 1974.

  Pontecorvo was the first person to deliver the annual Leslie Clarence Dunn Lecture.
