Correspondents and contents include: William Tod, Glen Esk (Responds to sample of Japanese paper PC has sent him and states that ‘Clementina [nee Cox – his wife] and baby’ are very well); James Spence, Albion iron Works, St Peters, Newcastle on Tyne (encloses £20 interest owed to PC and expresses his regret at PC’s ill health; has sent PC a copy of Dr Bruce’s ‘Roman Wall’); John Dempster*, 49 Castle Street, St Andrews (Thanks PC for his order for £5 and the interest he has taken in his studies. Describes life and individuals at the University of St. Andrews including Principal Sharp and Professor Campbell and refers to forthcoming installation of new Lord Rector); Sir David Baxter, 5 Moray Place, Edinburgh (relates to ground desired by Rev.
