Scope and Content
Correspondence: 1888. Miscellaneous topics pertaining to engineering and business matters together with current, general and family affairs. Correspondents and contents include: Peter Carmichael [nephew of PC] Bracken Lodge, Strathmartine (Asks PC for permission to name his new son James Drummond after his late cousin, PC’s son. Copy draft reply from PC indicates his approval); Miss Fergusson, Dundee Convalescent Home, Broughty Ferry (asks PC for money to cover Christmas dinner and New Year treat. PC replied with cheque); Mrs Gilruth, Auchmithie, Arbroath (Encloses photographs [not retained with letter] and appeals for subscription); W. S. Carmichael, Ailly Sur Somme (relates to financial arrangements; talks about visit to Ireland and plans to visit Arthurstone; Is ill so delaying trip to Scotland; States his health is improving and gives family news and Christmas greetings); Nathaniel Law, Manse of Eassie (Thanks PC for his sympathy on loss and for financial assistance); George Lyell [PC’s Nephew], MacNeill & Co, Calcutta (Has arrived back in India and sends news of his baby and other matters); Andrew G.
