William Nairne, Milnhaugh (engineering improvements and inventions);
J. C. Robertson, Patent Office, Fleet Street, London (Subscription to mechanics magazine; acknowledgement of payment received);
James Carmichael, Filature d’Ailly, (production figures for his factory and his dissatisfaction with his situation; Family news, Mr Young’s trip to Dundee, news that James Low is staying with him and Paris Exhibition; Waiting for visit from David Baxter, hopes PC’s wife will recover after spending time at Broughty [Ferry] and Robert Baxter has taken another mill; business matters and mention of cholera epidemic; his election to the Consistoire of the Church of Ameins, family matters and illnesses; birth of Peter Carmichael’s eldest son, describes his meeting with President Louis Napoleon in Ameins owing to his position in church and mentions cholera deaths continuing; mentions death of George Drummond, their Uncle; the politics regarding the awarding of medals at the Paris Exhibition - JC’s yarns were awarded a silver medal, discusses a new method of welding steel;);
