Letter from C S Parker, House of Commons to Robert Keay, Perth offering the sum of £5 as his subscription towards the trophy as he regards himself as “an old volunteer”; 19 June 1884.
Letter from John McGregor, Perth to William MacLeish informing him that he will be unable to attend the meeting of subscribers. However he reassures MacLeish that he “will not be behind when the subscription is begun”; 6 August 1884.
Letter from Patrick Stirling, Kippenross, Dunblane to William MacLeish, Perth relating to an enclosed newspaper article which has highlighted the misunderstanding over whether the trophy was intended to be a battalion prize (which Stirling understood it to be) or a prize for a particular “set of companies”. Stirling claims that the presentation of a trophy to Perth’s Companies would “weaken in place of strengthening the Regimental feeling”; 12 August 1884.
Letter from Patrick Stirling, Kippenross, Dunblane to William MacLeish, Perth acknowledging receipt of MacLeish’s letter and expressing his relief that any confusion that may have arisen over the trophy or its presentation has now been cleared up; 14 August 1884.

Letter from John Young, City Chambers, Tay Street, Perth to the Lord Provost apologising for not being able to attend a proposed meeting of the committee but nevertheless giving his approval of a design he had seen earlier, describing it as “most excellent & handsome”; 8 October 1884.
