• Scope and Content

  This series consists of files of letters from the Office of Public Works to the Registrar, Central Police Chambers (or a divisional Police Station) concerning the suitability of premises to be used as public halls or cinemas (with separate licensing required under the Cinematograph Act 1909). The correspondence contains detailed description of the buildings and often includes plans. Many of the files had title tabs for filing cabinet storage. The titles from the tabs have been given in the entry.
