Scope and Content
With the DSRS having their own darkroom, for many years DSRS produced quicklook photograph prints for every satellite pass (recording) they received. The quicklooks gave a synoptic overview of the full area covered by each pass and were initially created as full size negatives on film (for examples see RU 1005/1/32). The DSRS would then produce positive, black and white prints on paper by contacting printing from the negatives (for examples see RU 1005/1/1-31). The DSRS also superimposed coastlines and latitude/longitude lines on the prints. This was carried out by overlaying the appropriate grid on the negative before making the contact prints. Prints were also made for and sent to some customers as well as for the DSRS quicklook files. You should also have a box of these as examples in a yellow Kodak box I think, and a lever arch file with corresponding positive prints.
