Note
'Harriet Mary Low. Born 25 May 1859 at La Hormiga, Tizapan, Mexico. Died 19 February 1885 at Poona, India, age 26, after giving birth to a son, Alexander Graham Stewart, who died after three weeks. Both are buried at the large British cemetery at Poona. In 1895 her father, AFL, donated £975 to Paddington Green Children's Hospital for a permanent "Harriet Mary" cot in her memory.
On returning to England from Mexico, in 1865, according to AFL's passport dated 1865, while her brothers were sent to Cheltenham, "Alexander Fairweather Low, his wife, daughter and a maid servant" went touring in Europe. I have no record of her being sent to school so assume she was educated at home by governesses. She married Alexander Kenneth Stewart, second son of the Chief of the Stewarts of Appin, a surgeon in the British army in India'
