  East Kilbride District Council was a local authority incorporated in 1974 under the terms of The Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 and assumed the powers of a District Council in 1975. It was dissolved in 1996 under the terms of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1994 and its functions transferred to South Lanarkshire Council.
