Scope and Content
In 1821 the population of Mull reached 10,612. From this high point, famine and clearance brought a sharp decline in the middle of the century, continuing to decline into the twentieth. The present population is between 2,000 and 3,000. Emigrants from Mull went to Australia, New Zealand, Canada and America. Further information on specific families and individuals may be found in the Family History Room in a filing cabinet of research papers contributed by family historians and in the Museum's copies of census records and OPRs
