HERITAGE CENTRE OPENS AT UPLAND VILLAGE
Former museum chief performs opening ceremony
A HERITAGE Centre which it is hoped will bring prosperity to Kirkcudbrightshire’s highest village was officially opened at Carsphairn on Saturday.
Built with funding from the former Scottish Development Agency, Stewarty District Council and the Scottish Countryside Commission, the centre will open to the public from Sunday last.
It has a ‘Timespan’ geological and historical interpretive section as well as changing exhibitions of local historical and social conditions.
Solway Heritage acted as the enabling body for developing the plan and Sir Michael Herries, former head of the Royal Bank of Scotland hand over the centre.
Former museum chief, Alfred Truckell, officially opened the centre.
