Scope and Content
Leaflet showing models of an 'Island Village' and a 'Highland Town' made by J.P. Newall, a director of S.A. Newall & Sons Ltd., from cuttings of Harris Tweed. These models were shown at the British Industries Fair (BIF) at Earls Court, London - the village in 1951 and the town in 1953 - to show how accurately Newall's Harris Tweed replicated the true colours of the Scottish landscape. (The BIF was a government-funded exhibition held each year from 1915 to 1957 (except 1925 and 1941-46) in both London and Birmingham.) As well as images of the models, the leaflet features the story of the company and extracts of press mentions of the 1951 'Island Village' model.
