Scope and Content
The programme for 'An Clo Mor' - subtitled 'A celebration of the Harris Tweed industry in the 1930s' - directed by Muriel Ann Macleod (Theatre Highland) and written by Henry Adam. Based on interviews and historical research (particularly old Stornoway Gazette articles), the play's action takes place against the background of the change in trade mark definition of 1934, which permitted tweed that had used mill processes to be stamped as Harris Tweed (as long as it was still handwoven). Programme contains summary of play, details of cast, background information about the industry, adverts for local companies, and historical articles and adverts reproduced from the Stornoway Gazette. The play was first performed at the old Clansman Mills in Stornoway on 31st March, before touring the Western Isles, Highlands, Edinburgh, Galashiels, Aberystwyth, Llanelli, and finally London on 28th-29th April.
See GD014/8/2/3/1 for development application and GD014/8/2/3/3 for ticket to performance (originally stapled to the inside of the programme).
